  • I found the grounds clean, inviting & organized. The playground is especially large & has lots of activities!

  • I have attended this church for about 10 years. There are about 900 members and growing. There are plenty of young families with children and youth as well as older adults and retirees. There is both a traditional service at 11:00 a.m. on Sundays as well as a contemporary service at 9:00 a.m with Sunday School in between. Our Senior Pastor, Tom Harris, who has been at the church going on a year now. Diane Knauf is a wonderful Associate Pastor. The rest of the staff do a great job to keep this busy place going.

Music is one of the stand-outs at both services. There are opportunities for all ages to sing in various choirs, little ones included. There is a hand bell choir that is excellent. The Praise Team Band plays at the contemporary service and uses various instruments including keyboard, guitars, drums, violin and tambourine on occasion.

Another one of the strengths is the Youth Program. Anne Stark, the Youth Minister is excellent and plans activities that are sometimes recreational and sometimes educational like the time youth gathered overnight at the church and didn't eat for 24 hours to experience hunger. The youth go on a mission trip each summer. Examples of past mission trips include going to an Indian reservation in South Dakota, to inner-city Washington, DC and to Mexico.

There are many fellowship activities and groups. There are events like Rally Day and Sing-o de Mayo, a concert by the Praise Team with food trucks providing the food. There is the Piecemakers quilting group and the Prayer Shawl Group. There are the Women's Circles, the Covenant Groups, Primetimers, Twenties 'N Thirties and others. And wherever there are gatherings, they is usually food.

Mission is a huge focus of the church both locally and globally. There are numerous opportunities for mission from Meals on Wheels to Backpack Buddies to the Raleigh Rescue Mission and mission trips to Haiti and Mexico.

In addition, the church hosts various community groups such as the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Alcoholics Anonymous and provides space for English lessons for refugees.

If you are looking for a vibrant and friendly church in North Raleigh, you may want to give Saint Andrews a try.
