If you are looking for a country club, this is NOT the place for you. This true body of Christ is filled with real people who are ready to roll up their sleeves and get dirty serving others in Jesus' name. In my 6 weeks of attendance I have found the preaching to be spot on the Word of God, with Pastors who obviously love their Lord and are not afraid to preach Truth. There is a place for everyone here, young, old, single, married, infant, newly interested in God, to lifetime followers, you will be supported as you learn and grow with this large loving family.

I recently relocated to the Raleigh area and have been looking for a church. I visited here in 2014 for a couple of weeks. When I visited, the music was excellent! The lead singer sounded like a pro. I attended the 9:30 service today and the music was quite different. It would appear that the music program may have taken a hit, or is it different because of summer? I'm hoping the guy leading today is a sub? Music is very important to me.

The preaching is generally good; however, the main pastor specifically preaches from a template. Every sermon has 3 points that "if you put them to use/believe, will allow you to live for Jesus". Never more than 3 and never less than 3. The points they have are pretty banal (Jesus is there for you; Jesus wants a diverse church, etc - just shallow) and skips some pretty important stuff, IMO, in order to hit the automatic 3 points.
The singing is a whole nother problem. They sing the same songs over and over and over and over. I've been trying this church since Jan 1 and they've sung the "What a Beautiful Name" 5-6 times in those 3 1/2 months. They love this song despite it's message which is not Biblical. Jesus did not bring heaven down to us nor does He need us.
The sing the same stupid praise songs over and over. I think they have a low opinion of their congregation since they don't vary the songs they sing. They must not think they know old songs nor can they pick up new ones. Pretty low bar
The new songs they choose to sing are horrible with no melodies. Great for radio but not for church worship. I"m in my 20's so am not an old hymn person but plenty of artists are redoing the old hymns with modern music & flairs so not sure why this church needs to sing the same 20 "modern worship" songs all the time. Those hymns have great strong lyrics & melodies while the new stuff is shallow & just repeats the same words endlessly. They're more like Hindu raga's where it's trying to get you "in a trance" - albeit for Christ - you know what I mean if you think about it.
Anyway, if you love singing shallow, spiritually weak HIllsong songs constantly & repetitive, formulaic preaching then it's a good place. The people are generally friendly and the small groups are pretty good. They don't override the low bar that's set for the congregation and the mindless singing of the same old "praise songs" with weak lyrics. Part of worship is singing and the lyrics should push us just as much as the sermonAdded April 24, 2017 by gary peterson - ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
The true word of God is there, the way they worship God is so awesome, the real people of God in the church are caring and so loving. I mean they care and show love. I love being in the church all the time.
